The World Electronic Sports Games return for their second year, this time in Haikou, again featuring a $1,500,000 USD prize pool. Teams from all around the world are in attendance, qualifying through regional LAN events.

The WESG 2017 Grand Finals jointly hosted by Haikou Municipal People's Government and Alisports, organized by Hainan Sporting Events Co., Ltd. and Haikou Tourism Culture Investment Holding Group, supported by Haikou Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Sports and Publication Bureau, Haikou Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and Haikou Science, Technology and Industry Bureau.

  • Group Stage 1:
    • Eight Round-Robin format groups (4 teams each)
    • Top two team in each group advance to Group Stage 2
    • Bottom two teams are eliminated
    • All the matches are Bo1
  • Group Stage 2:
    • Four Double Round-Robin format groups (4 teams each)
    • Top two team in each group advance to the Playoffs
    • Bottom two teams are eliminated
    • All the matches are Bo2
  • Playoffs:
    • Single-Elimination Bracket
    • A 3rd place match is played
    • All matches are Bo3

1 February 7th - Thailand viperdemon will stand-in for Thailand SeveN89 on NSPR Gaming. [1]
2 February 23rd - NSPR Gaming release their WESG squad and sign a new one. The WESG team are now known as Ex-NSPR Gaming. [2]
3 March 7th - Ex-NSPR Gaming is signed by Alpha Red. [3]
1 February 18th - The Onliners players Canada Subroza and Canada gMd decide to skip the WESG finals. [4]
2 February 26th - Canada moose announces that he is pulling out of the WESG FInals. [5]
1 February 20th - subtLe players Canada Jonji and Canada WARDELL elect to skip the WESG finals. [6]
1 January 4th - ViCi Gaming sign China HZ, who replaces China aumaN on the active lineup. [7]
1 February 3rd - Team Envy replace France xms and sign stand-in France kioShiMa from FaZe Clan. They also replace France SIXER for Academy player France hAdji. [8][9]
2 March 6th - Team Envy will be attending with France SIXER as their fifth. [10]
1 March 9th - Russia hooch announces he will be missing WESG 2017 due to personal issues. Russia MSE steps in as coach. [11]
2 March 10th - Russia flamie announces he will be missing WESG 2017 due to personal issues. Russia hooch returns to the roster in order to play in his place. [12]
