Talk:2013 StarCraft II World Championship Series/Standings

From Liquipedia StarCraft 2 Wiki

Should the standings include players who have not yet been eliminated from their region's WCS? I.e., right now it only includes players who have lost in the Ro32 for Korea or EU.

I don't see a reason why we shouldn't include them already. PS: You should sign your contributions on talk pages with ~~~~, thanks! shz, Liquipedia Staff (Talk to me) 07:37, 25 April 2013 (KST)
I've added this. Used an asterisk to indicate people who are currently in the competition. For the sorting, if two people have the same total points but one is still in the competition I gave them the same position, but listed the person still in the competition above the one eliminated in the order. --Tntnnbltn 22:14, 28 April 2013 (KST)

There's no legend-marker for the "not yet eliminated" background colour. Should one be added somewhere to indicate that the lighter green means "Not yet eliminated"? Enigma 22:21, 30 April 2013 (KST)

BG colour[edit]

What BG colour scheme will be used for Tier 1/Tier 2 events? Currently the DH results are using the standard colours from the table, but that one column will end up needing to contain points from multiple events. What happens if someone gets 1st at one Tier 1 event and fourth at another? --Tntnnbltn 01:40, 28 April 2013 (KST)

Excel Spreadsheet[edit]

EDIT: See user guide @ User:Tntnnbltn/WCS Guide

Feedback would be appreciated. (Note: Currently has no background colour for the non-WCS events. Can be fixed once I know what system we'll be using.) Edit: Added more to the spreadsheet. Now supports background colours for non-WCS events.

Hey, this is great! I can't open it though, apparently it doesn't work with libre office!? Would it be possible to make that spreadsheet using google drive?
Then regarding the background of tier 1/2. They shouldn't have a background, it's a sum over all events of that tier so it doesn't make sense. Also, instead of the asterisk, I suggest using {{PlacementBG|active}} (green background), which we use all over the wiki to indicate that a player is still active. The total points column doesn't need that, that's just the sum of the columns. ~ PhiLtheFisH 22:19, 28 April 2013 (KST)
I tried making it in Google Drive but I don't think it allowed data validation. (Data validation makes the spreadsheet have a dropdown list for the positions so that it can match it up to the correct background colour in the output.) I'll see if I can change the background colour. Might take 20 minutes or so. --22:23, 28 April 2013 (KST)
Spreadsheet now supports {{PlacementBG|active}}. I'll see what I can do about Google Drive so that we can have a version people can update and save. --Tntnnbltn 22:46, 28 April 2013 (KST)
On Google Docs @ I'm hoping the conversion to Google Docs didn't mess anything up. Can someone try it out and see if it works like expected...
Also, it should be possible for people to edit and save it. So editors should be able to update this spreadsheet after events. We could put a comment in the code for the standings section telling editors to use the spreadsheet and save the updated version? --Tntnnbltn 23:07, 28 April 2013 (KST)
Firt of all: Awesome work. Thats a great idea! I agree with Phil to not use BG colors for the Other column. Yes, an comment to the standings section would be good. shz, Liquipedia Staff (Talk to me) 01:13, 29 April 2013 (KST)
Wow ! Now I understand why the wikicode is not as it used to be... Great work ! Could you make the same spreadsheet for regional statistics (kr, eu and am) ? Or maybe we should remove those pages as there are a global page ? Have you plan to add challenger stats ? I was thinking to create template for WCS points, thing like {{points|100}}. Would it help, or is this useless ? --Capistonblah 22:49, 30 April 2013 (KST)
The infrastructure and data would be there to collect/display regional results, but the spreadsheet is getting pretty laggy on Google Docs because of the number of functions (in particular the INDEX() and VLOOKUP() functions). But a small template like Race vs Race %s for each region should be possible....
The WCS points template might make the code a bit shorter. I (or someone else) can update the spreadsheet pretty easily... There's a hidden sheet called "Point distributions". It has tables for each of the leagues, and the third column of the table is where the code for the points template would go.
I was going to add the challenger and premier league stats into the one statistics table for the player statistics. It is designed to cover the entire WCS year, so needs to account for people who are in Challenger League in one season and Premier League in a different season. --Tntnnbltn 23:08, 30 April 2013 (KST)

Including it in the portal[edit]

Hi, would it be possible to add <noinclude>s to the code so we can directly transclude it to the Portal? I think that could work without a problem, I'm not 100% sure though. shz, Liquipedia Staff (Talk to me) 08:36, 8 May 2013 (KST)

New players not adding to spreadsheet[edit]

Sonder, MorroW, Myungsik, and iaguz aren't being added to the wikicode by the google spreadsheet, plus another 2 it looks like (209 players in the spreadsheet, 203 in the standings).
