I'm coming for you friend!.

Pathfinder is the picture of optimism, despite his circumstances. A MRVN (Mobile Robotic Versatile eNtity) modified to specialize in location scouting and surveying, he booted up decades ago in an abandoned laboratory with no idea who created him or why. With only his MRVN designation to hint at his identity, Pathfinder set off in search of his creator.

Pathfinder has learned much in his travels since then (like how to make a mean Eastern Leviathan Stew) but hasn’t come any closer to finding his creator. Still, he’s never given up hope, and has joined the Apex Games to gain a following--and hopefully draw the attention of his maker.

In the meantime, he remains enthusiastic and helpful, always ready to make new friends (then shoot them).

Version History[edit]

Version Balance Changes
Wild Frontier
  • Buff Grappling Hook
    • Updated icon
    • Added indicator near crosshair to show when player is in range of grapple-able geo
    • Improved mantling from a grapple point.
    • Can now grapple ziplines.
  • Adjusted hitboxes for Gibraltar, Caustic, and Pathfinder to better align with their shapes.
  • Hit box size reductions and optimizations
  • Fixed the exploit where you could do infinite wallclimb using Pathfinder’s Grapple.
  • Fixed Pathfinder’s zipline not deploying when jumping.

  • Buff Insider Knowledge
    • Increased the number of beacons in the world to 12 from 10
Battle Charge
  • New Passive Perk: Low Profile - Increases damage taken by 5%
  • Updated the hit box to better conform with the base model.
  • We are also planning to make adjustments so his hitbox better reflects Legendary Skins as well for cases where it’s not matching up.
  • Nerf Zipline
    • Increased cooldown from 90 seconds to 120 seconds.
  • Nerf Grappling Hook
    • Reduced the grapple projectile velocity by 33 percent, meaning it takes a fraction of a second longer to connect the grapple to the wall. The behavior once you’re connected remains the same.
Fortune's Favor
  • Nerf Grappling Hook
    • The cooldown for Grappling Hook has been increased from 15 seconds to 35 seconds.
  • Buff Zipline
    • Zipline Gun cooldown reduced by 10s each time Pathfinder scans a beacon. Up to 6 rings per game means the total cooldown of Zipline Gun can go from 120s to 60s.
  • Buff Insider Knowledge
    • Each time Pathfinder scans a survey beacon, the total cooldown of Zipline Gun is reduced.
  • Rework Grappling Hook
    • Pathfinder no longer needs to be on the ground for Grappling Hook to be considered finished.
    • The speed to which Pathfinder needs to drop for us to consider Grappling Hook finished was increased from 300 units/second to 500 units/second.
    • The maximum cooldown grapple can be set to was lowered to 30 seconds, from 35 seconds; the maximum amount of travel time before a new cooldown is set is now 5 seconds, rather than being uncapped. This means that effectively, you can never incur more than a 35 second cooldown.
    • The amount of distance you can travel before you hit maximum cooldown was roughly doubled.
  • Pathfinder continues to be an overachiever in terms of win rate. The good news is that his grapple change in 6.1 didn’t move his win rate by much (it went up 1% in total). We’re doing two things this patch: we’re adjusting his hitboxes and we’re putting in tuning for Grappling Hook that will firmly move it into buff territory.
