Clash Royale League
The Clash Royale League, also known as the CRL, is the official Clash Royale Esports circuit hosted by Supercell. The competition began in 2018 after the conclusion of the Crown Championship 2017. Its inaugural season in 2018 saw a team-based format league spanning across various regions around the globe. CRL moved away from team-based league into an individual circuit from 2021 onwards.

Team Era
2018[edit]
The inaugural season of Clash Royale League began in 2018 and consisted of 5 leagues: North America,
Europe,
Latin America,
Asia and
China. Asia and China had 2 seasons, Spring and Fall whereas Europe, North America and Latin America had a single Fall season. Each season had group stage and playoffs. The 4 Asian leagues had a Wild Card round as well.
The World Finals were held in Tokyo on December 1st. The "Finalists" consisted of

Team Queso (Europe Fall Champions)
Immortals (North America Fall Champions)
PONOS from Japan invited as the host country. The team placed 2nd in the Asia Fall split
A seeding tournament was then held which ranked the teams. After that the top 2 teams from the seeding tournament, Nova Esports and
Vivo Keyd got a bye for the Quarter-Finals and automatically made it into the Semi-Finals. After the Quarter Finals it was the Semi-Finals then the Grand Finals. The "Season One World Champions" were
Nova Esports.
2019[edit]
The Clash Royale League continued in its second season in 2019 and consisted of 3 leagues: West ,
China and
Asia. All 3 leagues had 2 seasons, Spring and Fall. Each season had group stage and playoffs.
The World Finals were held in Los Angeles on December 7th. The "Finalists" consisted of

The Clash Royale League continued in its third season in 2020 and consisted of 2 leagues: West and
East Both the leagues had 2 seasons, Spring and Fall. Each season had group stage and playoffs. All the seasons were held online due to safety concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The World Finals were scheduled to be held in Shanghai from December 5th - 6th. Due to global travel restrictions and safety concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the venue held the 2 Chinese teams and was not open to the public. The rest of the 6 teams competed online. The Quarter Finals duels were decided on the basis of the positions in the Fall Season (E1vW4, E2vW3, E3vW2, E4vW1). After the Quarter Finals, it was the Semi Finals, 3rd Place Match and then the Grand Finals. The "Season Three World Champions" were Team Queso.
Solo Era
2021[edit]
2021 saw a major change to the ecosystem with the return of the individual, 1v1 format, Replacing team-based leagues, the 2021 Season format comprised 8 seasons each containing a Global Ladder Leaderboard qualifier, Monthly qualifier, and Monthly finals.
Players compete through 8 seasons to collect circuit points with the Top 24 players directly qualifying for the World Finals. Another 8 spots will be obtained through the Last Chance Qualifier.
The World Finals was held Online for the 2nd consecutive year from December 3rd - 5th. Mugi was crowned the 2021 World Champion.
2022[edit]
The second individual season replaces the 8-season format in favor of Golden Ticket. 6 major tournaments hosted by the community across the year will offer the winner a Golden Ticket straight to the World Finals. Another 10 spots will be obtained through the 6-week in-game event containing various formats including a In-Game Special Challenge, Double Elimination brackets, Triple Elimination Swiss Format and a Last Chance Qualifier.
The World Finals returned to an Offline event in Helsinki on September 23rd - 25th.
Mohamed Light was crowned the 2022 World Champion.
