Evil Geniuses (often abbreviated as EG) is a professional gaming organization founded in the United States in 1999, making them one of the oldest esports brands still active in the scene. The organization initially entered Counter-Strike in the early 2000s, hosting various rosters until 2011. Their successful period in the game came in 2009 when they signed compLexity Gaming's former roster, going on to notably win IEM IV American Championship Finals over compLexity Gaming and besting Fnatic at Beat it! 2010. In 2012, Evil Geniuses shut down their Counter-Strike division, beginning a seven year hiatus from the game. In 2015, Evil Geniuses attempted to sign the GX squad but the deal fell through after the majority of the team received a lifetime ban from Valve events for their involvement in the North American match fixing scandal. On September 26th, 2019, Evil Geniuses entered Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with the acquisition of NRG Esports' roster. [1]
