ESL One Malaysia 2022 will be the third event in Genting Highlands organized by ESL after previously organizing two events in 2017 and 2018.[1]
Format[edit]

- Twelve teams
- Seven invited teams
- One team each from Europe/CIS, China, Southeast Asia, North America and South America
- Twelve teams
- Group Stage – August 23rd - August 25th, 2022
- Two groups of six teams
- Single round-robin, all matches are Bo2
- Top two teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs
- 3rd and 4th place teams from each group advance to the lower bracket of the playoffs
- Remaining teams are eliminated

- Head to head record between the tied participants taking only game score into account
- Number of 2-0 series in the league in general
- Record vs. the first team below the tied teams, continuing to each subsequent team below the tied teams til the tie is resolved.
- 1v1 Tiebreakers
- If none of the above criteria break a tie, then one player nominated from each team will play a single 1v1 solo mid game to determine who receives the higher seed.
- Before the last day of group play, each team will be asked to nominate 3 heroes to be included in the pool for this competition, which will always be a mirror match. (Shadow Fiend will always be included)
- Playoffs – August 26th - August 28th, 2022
- Double-elimination bracket
- Grand Final is Bo5, all other matches are Bo3
