Evasion
Evasion is a passive ability that gives the user a chance to dodge an incoming attack. This only applies to standard attacks and does not dodge spells. Whenever evasion procs, an evade message displayed briefly.
Evasion can be completely negated by True Strike, which causes the user's attacks to never miss. Evasion can also be countered by Accuracy. Different from true strike, Accuracy is a debuff placed on the target which causes attacks on them to not miss.
Evasion stacks diminishingly with itself and other miss chance abilities. Using a multiplicative formula, stacking comes with diminishing returns. This includes blind effects and the base 25% chance for ranged heroes to miss when attacking uphill. All chance based evasion is subject to pseudo random distribution for chance calculation.
Evasion is not to be confused with disjoint, which avoids a projectile entirely.
Evasion is checked when the attack or projectile hits the target.
Chance Stacking Formula[edit]
Evasion chance can be calculated using the following formula:
- 1 - (1 - evasion chance) × (1 - next source of evasion chance) × (1 - miss chance) × (1 - next source of miss chance) = evasion chance
Example calculating total evasion chance with maxed Blur and a Butterfly stacked:
- 1 - (1 - 0.5) × (1 - 0.35) = 0.675 ➜ 67.5% evasion chance
Because of the way it is calculated, the maximum evasion possible through chance stacking approaches 99%. 100% evasion is only attainable when it is specifically provided by an ability such as Magnetic Field or Windrun.
