Ryoo "SeleCT" Kyung Hyun is a retired player from South Korea, who most recently played for QPAD Red Pandas. Prior to his Dota 2 career, SeleCT used to be a successful StarCraft II progamer on Team Dignitas, as well as a two-time WCG winner in Dawn of War. He has retired from competitive Dota 2 and returned to Starcraft II.

Biography[edit]

Starcraft 2[edit]

From August 2010 to October 2012, SeleCT was a StarCraft II progamer on Team Dignitas. During this period, he notably placed second in the 2010 MLG DC and third in the 2011 MLG Dallas. His last notable achievement in SCII was a runner-up place in the ASUS ROG Stars Invite in November 2011, after which his results gradually declined. On October 24, 2012, he announced his retirement from competitive StarCraft II, and indicated that he meant to move to Dota 2.[1]

Dota 2[edit]

On November 27, 2012, SeleCT was reported to have joined the newly-created team Mineski.kor, with whom he would compete in the World Cyber Games 2012.[2] Later it was revealed on his stream that he would not participate in WCG 2012.

Early in March, 2013, the QPAD Red Pandas announced that SeleCT would be one of their members, finishing off their lineup. He moved to Sweden to live in a team house with the other members.[3][4]

After playing with the team for two months, and winning the StarLadder Season 6 Qualifiers, he and QPAD participated in the Western Qualifiers for The International 2013. They were eliminated in the group stage. On May 26th, it was announced that SeleCT and Mini were both leaving QPAD, with SeleCT retiring from Dota 2 to compete in the Starcraft II World Championship Series.[5]
