Urn of Shadows
Infused Raindrop Circlet Ring of Protection Recipe

Urn of Shadows (also known as Urn) is an item that has both offensive and defensive capabilities. Its active ability Soul Release can be used to provide a heal over time to an allied unit or deal damage over time to an enemy unit. Soul Release does not trigger Linken's Sphere.

Heals HP over time for friendly units, and deals damage over time for enemy units. The healing effect is lost if the affected unit takes damage from heroes, hero controlled units or Roshan. Gains a charge every time an enemy hero dies nearby. If the Urn is empty and has no charges, it gains 2 charges instead. Only the closest Urn to the dying hero will gain a charge.

Aggressive Use[edit]

Urn of Shadows has an active 200 damage over time spell when casted on enemy heroes. Because heroes gain more HP as time goes on, Urn is most effective at minute 0 and becomes less effective over time. Thus many heroes that do early ganking such as Night Stalker, Enchantress, and Pudge may all viably get an early Urn to take advantage of the extra damage, when it is most effective.

When using Urn while ganking, it is most effective to use it right away. This allows a chance for the ability to cool down and be usable again during the same gank.

Urn can be used to heal allies while pushing. Healing priority should first to any hero under half HP. If there are multiple heroes that need healing, priority should go to heroes essential to the push, then to carries, then to supports.

Defensive Use[edit]

Urn provides a great heal over a short period of time, similar to Healing Salve. During defensive situations it can be used on oneself while juking and remaining out of vision to regain health. It can also be used on allies attempting to juke as well.

Notable Heroes[edit]

Urn of Shadows provides a good health bonus and decent mana regeneration, making it viable on support heroes that spam spells and on semi-carry heroes with low base HP that also make heavy use of spells. The heal also combines strongly with heroes that already have an innate healing spell, allowing them to become walking healers.
