Liquipedia:Notability Guidelines

Please note that inclusion of pages in mainspace is ultimately up to the discretion of the Liquipedia administrators.

Sadly, not everything can be added to the wiki. We want all our pages to be as up-to-date as possible and to meet our quality standards in general. That is made harder the more pages are created, not to mention additional factors, such as the fact that lower ranked teams tend to not have social media where they announce transfers, and so on.

Now, these are not non-negotiable. This wiki contains coverage of certain teams and players that may not strictly meet our notability requirements, however they are considered to be of special importance to their local scene or to Halo history as a whole. Any pages that do not meet these guidelines will not be deleted, but will be moved to your user space.

Guidelines

When is a page deserved?

• All notability is determined by notability points, awarded for a team or person's achievements. Below is the break down of the maximum points each tier on this wiki gives in regards to points:

How does notability points work?

• Each tier correlates with a specific amount of points (as seen above).
• You ONLY get that amount of points if you get first place, otherwise the amount of points will be scaled down.
  • Example: If you win a B-Tier event, you get 600 points, if you get second you get less than 600, third less than second and so on

How many points do I need to be considered "Notable"

• Notable - If you have 800 points or more
• Discussable - If you have between 600-800 points
• Not Notable - If you have less than 600 points

Players

Who and what to add?

Players may receive their individual pages, as long as they surpass a certain threshold of notability. Check the bullet points below. If your chosen player fits at least one of these, then they are likely notable enough to warrant a page on this wiki.

• Achievements: If the player has achieved notable results, see When is a page deserved?
• Previous history: If the player was a pro-gamer in another game (Warcraft III, StarCraft 2, Counter-Strike...)
• Sponsored: If the player is a notable member of a major team.
• Always at the wiki administrators discretion

Staff

• What are staff?
  • Staff are members of a team that are not players. Liquipedia recognizes the following staff: Coaches, Analysts, and Team Managers (taken on a case-by-case basis)

Who and what to add?

• Staff follow the same notability guidelines as players, teams and on-air talent: Notability range
• Always at the wiki administrators discretion

On-Air Talent

• What is on-air talent?
  • On-air talent are members of a league or tournaments broadcast team. Liquipedia recognizes the following talent: Hosts, Casters, Analysts, Observers, and Producers (taken on a case-by-case basis)

Who and what to add?

On-air talent is not subject to the same notability guidelines as players. This means that the above criteria does not apply when determining whether a caster or other talent member has earned a page. To determine if a staff member is notable, please review the below guidelines:

• Notability points:
  • On-Air Talent gets the same points as the 3rd place team of the event they are working.
• On-Air talent follows the same point ranges as teams, players and staff: Notability range
• Always at the wiki administrators discretion

Teams

To create a team page or not to create?

When to create

If the team fulfills one of the following:

• The team is a well-established esports organization and has a page on at least 3 other Liquipedia wikis;
• Individual Player Performance does not count towards the teams notability;
• The team has notable results; check the Notability Checker to see a team's notability.
• Always at the wiki administrators discretion

Leagues

Leagues and tournaments with a cash prize of at least $500 USD should be added right away for documentary purposes.
Note¹: non-cash prizes do not count towards the $500 threshold.

Note^2a: If a League or Tournament has a cash prize lower then $500 USD it may be added if all information is publicly available.
Note^2b: Always at the wikis administrators direction.

Note^3a: If the TO fails to give said information when asked, does not reply to the editor in question or fails to update those page themself then those pages will be moved to the userspace or deleted.
Note^3b: This counts for the whole league or tournament in question, it will be moved to the userspace until the problem has been solved or it will be deleted if only 1 season is on the wiki and/or the pages are not format in the correct wiki style.
Note^3c: If it is known that the TO or their previous/current crew has caused damage/harm to other people or their brand then we will not allow/(re-)move the league from Liquipedia to save the integrity of the Liquipedia Brand.

Maps

We try to accumulate as much information about maps as possible. Map pages usually include notable features like the following:

1. General in-game map information.
2. Relase information.
3. Spawn Loacations for Attackers and Defenders.
4. Differences between the orginal map and the rework, if reworked/buffed.
5. Esports statistics, which side is the most effective.
6. Recently matches played on said map, with links to said league and/or VoD.

Transfers

Transfers are entered on the Transfer Portal here. Below are the guidelines to follow for transfers:

• Only add entries when you have a reliable source for the transfer:
  • Note: Leak accounts are not reliable sources and should not be used.
  • Note: that forward-looking statements from sources using wordings such as 'will sign' can be speculative and should be dealt with accordingly.
• All transfers should be added. Regardless of how big or small the team is.
• Formatting for dates is the following YYYY-MM-DD
• All transfers should be added in the appropriate order following the date guidelines

All other transfers should be discussed on the Liquipedia Discord server or added to the transfer rumour portal

Transfer Rumours

This wiki has a transfer rumour portal for reporting speculative transfers. This brings some unique problems and differences from a regular transfer. Below are the guidelines that should be followed for transfer rumours:

• Only add entries when you have a refernce (or source) for the rumour:
  • If there is no reference or source, it should not be added.
• Follow the date guidelines
  • The date is when the reference was posted not the date of the transfer
  • Once entered the date should not change
• Confidence should be entered with proper capitalization
  • User adds how likely a transfer is to occur, this can be from looking at other transfers that have happened, discussions on the Discord server or internal sources
  • Once entered the confidence can change but the date should not change
• Those who are found to be breaking NDAs will have their edit access to this portal restricted.
• Those who are found to be abusing the portal will have their edit access restricted as well.

Wiki administrators will confirm or deny the rumours. All rumours are subject to administrators review and removal at any time without warning or reason

User pages

Completely optional, but make your userpage a good indication of who you are! Feel free to be friendly or use some Userboxes to spruce things up.
