Charge (ability)

Charge is an ability that lets a minion attack immediately after it has been summoned. Normally a minion can only attack on the next turn after it has been summoned.

Some minions innately have the Charge ability and for other minions it can be given by certain spells and effects of other minions.

Advantages and Disadvantages[edit]

Advantages[edit]

  • Minions with Charge have usually at least one guaranteed attack.
  • Minions with Charge can be kept in hand for longer as they effect the board instantly when they are played.
  • Classes that are low on direct damage spells such as Warrior or Priest can use Charge minions to cover the lack of instant damage.
  • Charge allows cards such as Wolfrider to be treated as removal tools when needed.
  • Silence is very weak against minions with Charge because they have already had a chance to benefit from the ability before they can be silenced.

Disadvantages[edit]

  • Cards with innate Charge are often lower on Attack and HP than other cards with same mana-cost.[1]
  • Minions with Charge are effected by Taunt unlike damage spells such as Fireball.
