Demon

From Liquipedia Hearthstone Wiki

Demon is a subtype of minion in Hearthstone, meaning that there are game mechanics involving Demons specifically. Demon cards have very limited synergy amongst each other, but there are other cards that target Demons, meaning that there is an increased advantage in having many of them in the same deck.

Strategy[edit]

Nearly all Demon cards are Warlock cards and as such, the only sensible Demon decks are Warlock decks. The Demon decks rely on playing Demons and, while they themselves can be used as regular minions, the clue is in targeting those Demons with other cards that only work with Demons.

Putting all Demon cards into your deck would give you 34 cards. Thus, since a deck can only contain 30 cards, it is impossible to have all the cards in the same deck. Moreover, excluding four and only going for Demon cards will not let you have any other type of cards in your deck. However, since all of the cards are Warlock cards, you are not forgoing all of your class's strengths in having a Demon-only deck.

Counters[edit]

If your opponent plays the card Lord Jaraxxus and you yourself play a Warlock, your opponent can be killed off immediately with Sacrificial Pact, because Lord Jaraxxus counts as a Demon, and when your opponent replaces his hero with Lord Jaraxxus, his hero will count as a demon.

After Blackrock Mountain cards were made available in April 2015 every class has a way to gain Sacrificial Pact via Nefarian's Ability.

Lore[edit]

Demons are creatures known only as evil to most mortals. Most of the demons in Azeroth or Outland are members of the Burning Legion. Most demons are not born as such, but were converted to demonic beings by the Burning Legion after their worlds were conquered.

The change to a demon being includes a powerful command of arcane energy. Similar to sorcerers and wizards, demons control their power with the force of their will, but their magic is innate. The demonic magic that infuses them also confers certain immunities and resistances (acid, cold, electricity, and fire among others) and they radiate an aura that induces fear into the weak willed.

There are many types and races, most of whom typically serve either their own agenda or that of the Legion (they are often the same). [1]
