Gul'Dan is the Warlock hero in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. He's a standard playable hero with 30 hit points and no attack value, and was one of the initial heroes in the closed beta phase of the game.

Lore[edit]

Gul'Dan often referred to himself as "Darkness Incarnate" or "The Destroyer of Dreams", and is by many considered the strongest mortal warlock to ever have existed. He started out as an orc shaman from Draenor, who became the first orcish warlock and founded the Orcish Horde. In his search for power he betrayed his people, and took Kil'jaeden as his mentor. Gul'dan is personally responsible for the demonic enslavement of the orcs, as well as the Horde's invasion of Azeroth.

After being tutored by the lord of the Burning Legion, Gul'Dan created the Shadow Council and the Death Knights. His quest for power eventually became his demise, as he encountered a swarm of insane demons after opening the Tomb of Sargeras. A small piece of his soul remains in the skull of Gul'Dan, which later was used in the destruction of the Dark Portal.
