These wyrms feed on arcane energies, and while they are generally considered a nuisance rather than a real threat, you really shouldn't leave them alone with a bucket of mana.

Mana Wyrm is a Mage class minion card. Its effect is whenever you cast a spell, gain +1 Attack.


Mana Wyrm is a bit of a two-sided minion. On one side he has very good stats for a 1 cost minion and allows for further growth to boot. On the other hand, he's a very bad draw in the later stages of the game where a 1/3 minion has negligible impact on the board and card efficiency becomes more important than mana efficiency.

Despite this drawback Mana Wyrm sees play in the majority of Mage decks, being a turn 1 play that can either absorb aggressive plays or pose a scaling threat against passive decks. He's best used in conjunction with cheap spells like Mirror Image, Frostbolt and Arcane Missiles to amplify his damage and keep him safe from your opponent's minions. Turn 1 Mana Wyrm, Coin, Mirror Image is a feared combination in Hearthstone, putting your opponent up against a 3/3 minion with 0/2 bodyguards on your first turn.


Patch Despite the steep decrease in Mage popularity after several nerfs to the class' staple cards, Mana Wyrm has remained a stable presence in both aggressive and controlling Mage decks.
