Kingzone DragonX's Debut Year (2018)[edit]

Kingzone DragonX was created on January 7th, 2018 when they acquired Longzhu Gaming's roster and LCK spot. [1] Making their debut in the 2018 Spring Season under the new name, the same team consisting of Kim "Khan" Dong-ha, Kim "Rascal" Kwang-hee, Han "Peanut" Wang-ho, Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan, Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong, Kim "PraY" Jong-in, and Kang "Gorilla" Beom-hyeon continued build on the prior success, and won their first split in the LCK. Showing a dominant regular season with a 16-2 record, and beating the Afreeca Freecs in the Playoffs to qualify for MSI.

DragonX at MSI seemed to have a slow start, dropping 4 games in the Group Stage against the likes of Flash Wolves, Fnatic and Royal Never Give Up. However in the Playoffs DragonX was at least able to take revenge on the Flash Wolves as they beat them 3-1 to secure a spot in the finals. They could however not beat the LPL, as Royal Never Give Up took the series 3-1. Leaving DragonX with a second place finish at the international event.

In the following Summer Split, performance seemed to have dropped off, and they were no longer the dominant team they were in Spring. Ending in third in the regular season, they saw an early exit in the Playoffs losing to the Afreeca Freecs 1-3. This meant to qualify for Worlds they now had to go through the Regional Finals. However in the regional finals the team was swept away by Gen.G Esports in the finals. Meaning DragonX missed out on Worlds that year.

Concluding the year DragonX parted ways with a majority of their roster as Khan, Bdd, Peanut, PraY, and GorillA left. [95][96] Rebuilding for the next year, the organization brought in Heo "PawN" Won-seok, Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu, and Park "TusiN" Jong-ik to complete their roster for 2019.

(2019)[edit]

They rebranded to DragonX in October of 2019, and then renamed to DRX in June of 2020.

(2020)[edit]

(2021)[edit]

From Mediocre Seasons To World Champions (2022)[edit]

Coming into the Regional Finals as the lowest seeded team, DRX only had a final chance to secure the last seed of the LCK to qualify for Worlds. Over the course of 2 gruelling best-of-five's, the team however was able to turn the odds, and with their final victory over SANDBOX Gaming, qualified for the World Championship.

At Worlds, DRX would have to start in the Play-In Stage. Within this stage DRX had a flawless run, and found direct qualification into the Group Stage. In the Group Stage, they were able to topple their group by eventually beating Rogue in the tiebreaker for the first seed. This victory however put them against EDward Gaming in the Knockout Stage. Initially in their match, it looked like DRX would make an early exit, but they were able to pull off a reverse sweep against the Chinese team. With this momentum they were also able to beat Gen.G Esports in the Semifinals in a 3-1 scoreline, and ultimately qualified for the Grand Finals to face off against T1. Following a back-and-forth series, DRX ultimately was able to take the final game. With this victory DRX were crowned World Champions. Also making it a first time that the 4th seeded team from a region won a Championship.

A Failure To Rebuild (2023)[edit]

Following their World's Victory, the organization parted ways with their Championship Winning roster due to their contracts expering. [97] In the following month they announced their new roster, and while BeryL made his return, the remaining roster consisted of Kim "Rascal" Kwang-hee, Kim "Croco" Dong-beom, Yoo "FATE" Su-hyeok, and Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil. Their newly build roster however was unable to find much off a success, finishing in 9th Spring Split on a 3-15 record.

For the following Summer Split, DRX brough in Kang "Kyeahoo" Ye-hoo and Park "Paduck" Seok-hyeon. With these changes, the team saw some improvement, now placing on a 9-9 record, and securing a slot in the Playoffs. In the Playoffs there were however beaten by SANDBOX Gaming. But by securing the 10 points, they still got a shot at qualifying for Worlds through the Regional Finals. However this time, DRX was not able to make a miracle run, and were promptly swept by Dplus, meaning the organization would not return to the World Championship to defend their title.
