History[edit]

Phelan Ireland is the first League of Legends team picked up by the Phelan Gaming Brand. They were picked up in September 2016, while they were competing in the online stage of the G-Series. The team consisted of Moo Goose(C) TheCprom Jaackx TheOrical. The team would go on to finish 4th in the Online stage of the G-Series and qualify for the Lan event. The team would compete at G-Series Lan event 15th and 16th of October, were in the semi-finals, they would face Homicidal Jesters in a Best of 3. The team would lose the first game to Homicidal Jesters game despite getting an early gold lead. The team would again get an early lead on and through amazing teamplay, would go on to win the second game. Sadly, in Game 3 the team were caught off guard by the early lead that the enemy team had built and sadly were defeated. The team would lose the series 2-1. The team would go on to win the 3rd place game against Sentinel Gaming, meaning on Phelan Gamings first outing they would finish 3rd.

After the lan had finished, Goose would leave the team to join another Irish LoL team. Moo took over the captaincy duties of the team. Both he and the team decided that changes were needed in order for the team to succeed in the Irish scene and online tournaments. The team first focused on securing the services of TheCprom again, after his performances during G-Series. The team would then pick up Dragonship from Sentinel Gaming to fill the Jungle position.

In November 2016, the team would loan Glube and iSlinyyy from Aesir to compete at Eirtakon Lan event. The team would go on to play in the finals. The team would win the finals 2-0. This was Phelan Gaming first tournament win of the organisations history and we are very proud of our players for this.

For Gamercon 2017 in Dublin on the 18th and 19th of March, The team needed to pick up a bot lane that could compete with the other bot lanes in Ireland. They secured the services of a French ADC known as Mayhap. He had previous experiences of competing in the Irish scene so we were comfortable in our decision to pick him up. The team would pick up iSlinyyy after his performances in Eirtakon. The team would get drafted into the "Group of Death" with other tournament favorites Ferocity eSports and Sentinel Gaming. Phelan Gaming would pick up the first win of their group over Sentinel Gaming but fell to Ferocity on the main stage. When Ferocity beat Sentinel it confirmed that Phelan Gaming would be moving into the Semi - Finals of the tournament. There they would play against Ohana Bananas, who had acquired Phelan's old support TheOrical. Phelan Gaming secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ohana. This meant that Phelan would once again have to play Ferocity eSports in the Final. Phelan would fall once again to Ferocity, losing 2-0.

After Gamercon, management of Phelan Gaming knew that changes were needed if they were to challenge Ferocity in the next competition. An open trial was held and was headed by Owner Ciarán "Wings" Walsh, who already knew who, he wanted for the new Phelan Squad. Both Moo and TheCprom would be kept on for their performances and workrate that they put into the team.

After a few months of no lans, Phelan Gaming is back with a completely new squad. Phelan picked up a DeleV, FloreNNN and Dakin for online competitions while they were waiting the Lan to come. After another 2nd place finish in an online competition, Cprom would leave his position in the mid lane, leading to Phelan having to go and find another mid laner and a new bot lane. Phelan started by picking up Assarad, a former Ferocity player and talented German ADC. Phelan would then pick up British Mid Lane player Beeley. Lastly, Phelan rounded out their roster with Museums, a well known player in the Irish scene. After a few more Second place finishes and a slump to 3rd-4th place Phelan decided that they would have to make a few more changes before RAID Lan 2018. This would lead to Phelan bringing in Irish Support Legend Hustlin, also UK talents Notley and Shiklin.

After another 2nd place finish, Moo would decide to step down from the roster for the Foreseeable future and move to a content creation role within the organisation. This would lead to Phelan searching for a new roster for their play in the Irish scene. This would lead to Phelan picking up a new team that was just formed within the scene, and meant the return of Darren 'Dakin' Hopkins and Rob 'Deviilz' Cooney to the Phelan brand
