Guangzhou Charge (广州冲锋 in Chinese) is the team representing Guangzhou, China, in the Overwatch League. The Charge compete in the Pacific East Division.

The team is owned and operated by Nenking Group, a financial and entertainment conglomerate, and owners of the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association, and French association football club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.

Timeline[edit]

  • August 2nd - The Guangzhou Overwatch League franchise is officially announced as one of the first two new teams entering the 2019 Overwatch League Season.[1]
  • October 15th - Guangzhou announce their upper management through The Esports Observer. Ethan from Machi Esports joins as the teams General Manager.[2][3]
  • October 17th - The Philadelphia Fusion announce that they have traded HOTBA to Guangzhou.[4]
  • November 8th - The name and branding of the Guangzhou franchise is officially announced to be the Guangzhou Charge.[5][6]
  • November 22nd - The Guangzhou Charge announce their lineup for the 2019 Overwatch League Season.[7]
  • December 4th - J1N, Tydolla and Sungwoo are announced to be a part of the new coaching staff of the Guangzhou Charge.[8]
  • December 21st - Rise is fined $1000 for account sharing.[9]
  • December 25th - Tutu joins as Special Correspondent.[10]
  • January 10th - Competitive Analyst Cuddles leaves the team.[22]
  • January 19th - creed joins as Assistant Coach.[23]
  • April 24th - neptuNo and Wya become Inactive due to Visa Issues.[24]
  • June 19th - neptuNo returns to the Active Roster after entering South Korea and finishing his mandatory 14-day social isolation.[25][26]
  • July 12th - Wya becomes a two-way player for Ignite One.[27]
  • July 14th - Krystal joins the the team on a two-way contract with Ignite One.[28]
  • July 20th - neptuNo becomes Inactive due to Visa Issues.[29]
  • July 22nd - nero becomes Inactive due to Visa Issues.[30]
  • August 2nd - Seabo joins the team as Data Analyst.[31]
  • August 19th - nero returns to the Active Roster after completing his mandatory 14-day isolation upon reentering South Korea.[32]
