NRG Esports is an American esports organization, formed after co-owners of the NBA's Sacramento Kings purchased the LCS spot of Team Coast.
History[edit]
Overwatch League Announcement[edit]
On July 12th, 2017, NRG Esports announced that they had purchased the San Francisco spot in the Overwatch League.[1][2]
Overwatch Contenders 2018[edit]
Following the announcement of the revamped Overwatch Contenders for 2018, the San Francisco Shock establish an academy team, that will use the NRG Esports name.
Disbanding of Contenders Roster[edit]
On May 8th, 2019, NRG Esports announced that they would no longer field an Overwatch Contenders roster.[3]
Timeline[edit]
- February 11th - iddqd joins.[6]
- March 16th - Ajax and Harbleu officially join NRG Esports.[7]
- April 3rd - milo officially becomes a free agent.[8]
- April 5th - CLOCKWORK signed by Gale Force eSports.[9]
- April 13th - Seagull steps down from the active roster to focus on streaming.[10]
- May 5th - Seamoose is signed as Coach.[11]
- May 17th - Ajax leaves active roster.[12]
- May 18th - Ajax leaves the team.[13]
- June 23rd - dummy leaves the team. Snow joins as Trial.[14]
- July 23rd - numlocked leaves the team.[15]
- August 9th - Coach Seamoose leaves the team. Brad, former owner of Selfless Gaming, joins as Head Coach of their Overwatch League team.[16]
- August 22nd - harbleu steps down from the active roster.[17]
- September 23rd - Seagull leaves for Team EnVyUs.[18]
- September 28th - NRG officially announce their Overwatch League team roster, iddqd and Brad move to the San Francisco roster.[19]
- November 6th - Manager Hotaruz is fired from NRG Esports and the San Francisco Shock franchise after sexual assault allegations.[20]
- February 16th - Manager Zwei leaves NRG and the San Francisco Shock.[21]
- February 26th - NRG Esports announces their Overwatch Contenders roster for 2018. They also announce that the new home of the Contenders roster will be in Washington D.C in partnership with Events D.C.[22]
- April 4th - Daemin leaves the team to join the Shanghai Dragons.[23]
- April 10th - Poise joins the team.[24]
- May 7th - Head Coach NineK is promoted to the San Francisco Shock.[25]
- June 15th - Rascal joins the team.[26]
- September 25th - Rascal is promoted from NRG Esports to San Francisco Shock.[27]
- October 14th - Swon joins Florida Mayhem.[28]
- October 17th - NRG Esports announce they have parted ways with robdab.[29]
- October 18th - NRG Esports announces their new roster.[30]
- November 21st - NRG announce that Ezire, face and Mobydik have joined the team.[31]
- January 21st - Poise leaves the team.[32]
- January 23rd - Kragie joins the team as streamer.[33]
- February 27th - HelloImHalo leaves the team.[34]
- February 28th - Pookz joins the team.[35]
- April 10th - MirroR joins the team and Ezire leaves the team.[36][37]
- May 8th - NRG Esports announces they are no longer fielding a Contenders team, withdrawing the brand from Overwatch.[3]
