The PAVGA Asia Star Tournament: Star Series was a tournament circuit hosted by the Pokemon Asia VG Association (PAVGA). The goal of the circuit was to start up the Asia community's competitive scene since it's removal from the TPCi sanctioned tournament circuit back in August 2020. The circuit began on 5 June 2021 and ended with finals on 7 November 2021.

History[edit]

The circuit was originally scheduled to run from June to October 2021, with finals scheduled for 1−2 October 2021. Players would have to earn 60 points from qualifier events or be the player with the highest win percentage over the duration of the circuit in order to play in the final event.

However on 6 August 2021, PAVGA cancelled the remainder of their tournaments except for the "Major #2", "Revolution" and "Star Series" tournaments. The circuit was scheduled to resume in October 2021, with finals played on 6 November 2021. This resulted in an overhaul of the tournament finals' qualification criteria to allow Top 15 in points and the player with the highest win percentage.[1]

On 10 October 2021, PAVGA cancelled the "Major #2" tournament and readjusted their qualification criteria, allowing only the Top 11 in points and the Top 5 players of the "Revolution" tournament to qualify for the "Star Series" finals. Both the "Revolution" tournament and "Star Series" finals will be played with VGC 2021 Series 11 rules.[2]

Organizing Committee[edit]

The organizing committee was formed on 13 April 2021. It was disbanded on 25 November 2021.[3]
