The 2021 Pokémon Asia Players Cup was an online VGC tournament organized by ESL Play for players residing in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.[1] The event was held from 28 August to 11 September 2021 and was played on Pokémon Sword & Shield with VGC 2021 Series 9 rules. The Grand Finale of the event was pre-recorded and is to be broadcast on 19 September 2021.[2]

The Top 2 players of the tournament would be invited to play in the 2021 Pokémon Global Exhibition on October 2021. The winner will receive a Day 2 invitation to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, while the Top 8 players will receive a Day 1 invitation to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.

Tournament Details[edit]

Players from each region will compete with players from their own country in regional qualifiers held across the first two weekends (28 August & 4 September 2021). The best 8 players represented by the six different countries will play in the Grand Finale to determine the winner of the tournament.

Qualification[edit]

  • Players have to be residing in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan or Thailand.
  • The 8 players that will be qualified to play in the Grand Finale are
    • Top 2 players from the two regions with the highest check-in number
    • Top 1 player from the remaining four regions

Prize Pool[edit]

  • In addition to the prize pool, top 8 players will receive a physical copy of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl Double Pack and a physical copy of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.[4]
