SAME 2021

SAME 2021 is a Melee tournament circuit hosted by SmashEurope. It features singles, doubles, and crews.
Announced on January 10, 2021, this circuit features 11 qualifying tournaments and one championship event throughout 2021. Each month, from January to November, one of the main European TO teams hosts an online tournament, with each tournament providing circuit points.
The circuit originally concluded with an online championship event held in December. On June 14, 2021, the finals were moved to a tendative date in November.[1] On September 26, 2021, the dates for the SAME 2021 Finale was announced to be November 5-7, 2021.[2]
Format[edit]
Each of the qualifying tournaments provides points to players in singles and teams in doubles based on their placements as follows.

In parallel, each of the qualifying tournaments features several matches from the SAME 2021 crews tournament.
Prizes[edit]
The 16 players with the highest point totals will be invited to compete in the championship event for singles, as well as the 8 teams with the highest point totals for doubles. The top 4 crews from each pool are invited to compete in a single elimination bracket in the championship event.
On April 19, 2021, it was announced that the points leader after Fête Online would be invited to Smash Summit 11.[3] On May 25, 2021, it was changed to the point leader after Smash Sauna Online.[4] Consequently, the Summit invite was award to Pipsqueak.
On June 20, 2021, it was announced that the highest placing player without an existing invite at the SAME Finale would be invited to Smash Summit 12.[5][6] On September 26, 2021, this qualifier spot was moved to Smash Summit 13.[7][8]
