Smash Ultimate Summit 5 was an invitational major tournament, hosted by Beyond The Summit (BTS), held on September 15-18, 2022.[1]
The victory of Japan's ProtoBanham marked the first time any Smash Summit tournament (Melee or Ultimate) was won by a player from Asia; MkLeo's 9th place also marked his second time ever failing to reach top 8 in an offline tournament after Umebura Japan Major 2019 in May 2019, while acola's 4th place marked his first time failing to win a major, after winning the first four major tournaments he entered between May and August 2022.
