Mun "1988" Seong Won, also known as "MMA", is a StarCraft progamer from South Korea who played Terran for SK Telecom T1.

He played Terran in StarCraft II before retiring.

Biography[edit]

1988 was born and raised in Incheon, South Korea. When he was in elementary school, he was introduced to the original StarCraft, which would become his passion and would later lead him to become a progamer. At first, he wanted to be a soldier, but due to a knee injury he had to be discharged from the army.[1]

1988 played as a Terran on SK Telecom T1 from 2008 under the id "Dream.t)1988". He was never sent out by his team in official matches, though, and failed to qualify for individual leagues. He was allowed, however, to compete in the GOM Classic Season 2, where he reached the second round but lost to Mvp in a matchup of future StarCraft II stars. 1988 then made the transition to StarCraft II and followed BoxeR to SlayerS. Soon after, he became an ace as MMA (having previously competed in the GSTL as M and Jjob), including victory in the first GSL final outside of Korea (October 2011, held at BlizzCon), the 2011 Blizzard Cup and the WCS Europe Season 3 Premier League.
