Overview[edit]

The 2005 Snickers All-Star League was held from April through July 2005 and broadcast on MBCGame. It was composed of 8 top players at the time the tournament was held, as selected by voting by fans, pro-gamers, and team coaches. It was organized as, by and large, a one-time event tournament to fill some gaps in MBCGame's scheduling.[1]

Tournament Information[edit]

With only eight players, the tournament format was organized in relatively unique manner.

The preliminary matches were divided into two stages.

  • The first stage was used to determine the ranking of each player. All eight players competed. This stage used a single elimination bracket via a series of best of three format matches, with the finals being best of five. This stage enabled the determination of the top four players and their rankings/seeds.
  • In the second stage, all eight players once again competed. This stage also used a single elimination bracket via a series of best of three format matches, with the finals being best of five. The top four players determined by the first stage used their seedings to select their own opponents for the opening round. At the conclusion of this second stage, the top four finishers then advanced to the final elimination playoffs.

In the final playoffs:

  • Playoff #1: 3rd vs 4th (from second stage of preliminary)
  • Playoff #2: Winner from Playoff #1 vs 2nd (from second stage of preliminary)
  • Grand Final: Winner from Playoff #2 vs 1st (from second stage of preliminary)

₩39,500,000 (~$34,650) was awarded to the top finishers per the below:[2][3]
