General Information[edit]

The ICCup Ladder Main Event was announced in late August 2013 on ICCup.com. Its prize pool was formed with the help of community donations, the Swedish Brood War Initiative, users of Defiler.ru and Glinso.eu[1].

Every user of ICCup's StarCraft Brood War server automatically participated. The top 288 of the ladder season in between October and December 2013 advanced to the later stages of the tournament. In the week after the ladder reset the actual event took place, starting with the complex qualifiers on the 7th December, followed by the play-offs a day later.

Prize Pool[edit]

750 USD were divided among participants as follows:

Lottery [2], $35 for Australia Protoss dlwngur.

Format[edit]

The ICCup Ladder Main Event was split into three stages. Initially, any player could qualifiy via the ladder ranking. Depending on the ranks the players were seeded into the later phases of the tournament. The less points a player had on his best account, the more games he had to win in the subsequent qualifiers. If a player had more than one account in the Top 288 only the best account was seeded and the other ones ignored.[3]

The Qualifiers[edit]

Players on the places #49 to #288 were placed randomly into one out of 16 Single Elimination Brackets. The players placed #33 to #48 were seeded, to reward their better placements and to increase the overall level of the later stages by avoiding early knock outs of the best players. The mode of each Knock Out Tournament was a Best of One, only the finals were a Best of Three. The winner advanced to the Shoot-Outs.

  • Results, Statistics and detailed Information is available in the Qualifiers Tab

The Shoot-Outs[edit]

The players ranked #17 to #32 automatically advanced to the so-called Shoot-Outs. These were Best of Three matches against the winners of the Qualifiers. The winner advanced to the Main Event.

  • Results, Statistics and detailed Information is available in the Shoot-Out Tab

The Main Event[edit]

The players ranked #1 to #16 automatically advanced to the Main Event. In addition to the seeded top sixteen, the survivors of the Shoot-Outs were seeded into a 32 Man Double-Elimination Bracket.

  • Results, Statistics and detailed Information is available in the Main Event Tab

Notable Players[edit]

Szikszai
10122     Hungary Zerg Sziky

Sziky entered the ICCup Ladder Main Event as reigning champion of the TLS 3, the player to win the most gold medals in the Defiler.ru Tournaments and with the reputation to be the best current foreigner. He was member of the team sas and mercenary for Los Reyes Del Mambo Evolutions.

Pavel
8417     Russia Protoss Lancerx

LancerX was one of the players with the most games in the ladder stage of the ICCup Ladder Main Event. Especially his strong Protoss mirror and his results in Russian LANs founded his reputation as a strong player.

Igor
6984      Russia Terran Ramms

Ramms was considered to be one of the best foreign players and the best Russian Terran at the time of the ICCup ladder event. He performed well in the few tournaments he entered and had a reputation of beating strong Koreans on the FISH server.

Michał
8727      Poland Zerg trutaCz

trutaCz was considered the best Polish player and a top class foreign Zerg in 2013. He entered the tournament as runner up of the TLS 3 and as the player with the best record in the STL.

Andrey
6943     Ukraine Terran Marwin

Marwin made his comeback in early 2013, but played in few tournaments. However, in the few official events he entered he showed very strong performances and was seen as the strongest foreign Terran.

Michael
8224     United States Zerg Michael

Even though Michael played rather sloppy in the TLS 3, he was still seen as one of the strongest foreigners of late 2013. Being able to play all three races on a high level, Michael was considered to be a tough opponent in individual events.

Roman
6608     Russia Protoss Tama

The Russian Tama was a specialist against Terran and showed quite good performances in most Russian LAN events, as well as one of the few Protoss to win more than one of the Defiler.ru Tournaments. He entered the tournament after a longer period of inactivity.

Dimiter
6322     Bulgaria Zerg TechnicS

TechnicS was one of the veterans and considered as one of the strongest foreigners in late 2013. He entered the tournament with a bronze medal in the TLS 3 and a silver medal in the TLS 2.

Casters[edit]

Apart from the official English speaking team, ICCup offered users to stream and comment the earlier stages of the Main Event.

English Speaking Team[edit]

A small presentation of the cast crew by former ICCup news admin and well know talented humoristic writter within the broodwar community: NinaZerg

Hey guys, have ya heard? iCCup, in collaboration with SBWI and GLINSO is hosting a ladder event that is certain to astonish and amaze you, perhaps in a way you were totally not expecting! The idea is simple: the top 288 iCCup ladder players will be seeded into the tournament, and the other 50 players who do not qualify will have to wait for next time! Naturally, because you have an unending appetite for more StarCraft, there will be a broadcast, brought to you by BisuDagger, and will be joined by dRaW and Siz)Beggar.

BisuDagger
This man is a guy who really fucking loves Bisu and founded the Church of Bisu, which currently has over 1 million disciples worldwide. It is not a cult. He almost lost his faith the other day when he suggested that Stork might be a better Protoss than Bisu, and I quickly reprimanded him for his sins, and he repented. If you give him trouble, I will roast you in a rap song. That's not a good thing, so don't even go there. Just back away and nobody will get hurt. His casting style is strong, enthusiastic and mixes in very subtle humor that you probably won't catch, and think is serious.

Catch phrases: "We love him/her, but not as much as we love Bisu.", "Let's just pretend I'm right."

dRaW
The strongest, most legendary Protoss player in the history of StarCraft. He also really fucking loves Bisu. His constant dabbling in playing Zerg and Terran have caused some hilariously stupid people to think that dRaW is a Zerg player, but that is false. His true race is Italian. His skill is legend, and he has beaten Sziky many times. He is the kite runner, the snake charmer, the horse whisperer, the lion tamer, and the undisputed world champion, and got A rank on iCCup using Protoss. He currently plays for Team sas, which was betrayed by Sziky for 30 pieces of silver. His casting style is analytical, with making lots of funny voices.

Catch phrases: "Just make Lurkers", "Hm nah, that's pretty standard."

Siz)Beggar
Another guy who really loves Bisu. Actually, all of these guys are ga-ga for Bisu, and it's creepy and weird. But anyhow, Beggar is a 1200(ish) rank Fish player who recently found out that the McWraps at McDonald's are not actually healthy. He is a frequent attender of C-rank events, although he's clearly better than C+, but that's how C events work. He enjoys eating fried chicken. He is the sole owner of a secret replay pack from a very good Protoss player on Fish who is in the top 20, and you can't have it. His casting style is humorous and going "shiittt." a lot.

Catch phrases: "Shit man", "Man, these guys are just bad."

Results: Main Event[edit]
