The AIIDE 2015 is a tournament, organised by Dave Churchill for students of artificial intelligence (AI) and/or programming, who develop those skills while coding an AI player for Brood War. Ex-students and other enthusiasts also participate. This year featured a Zerg podium, with tscmoo taking its first major tournament after appearing on the scene. ZZZKBot, which took CIG2015 first place months before, took an extremely close 2nd (1st / 2nd place were statistical ties), Overkill took 3rd, UAlbertaBot, the first high-level random bot, took an extremely close 4th place (3rd / 4th place were statistical ties) and was the only bot to have a winning record against every other bot in the competition. Each bot played 1890 games, making a grand total of 20 790 games played in a single tournament.

22 players round of robin, with 1890 games played per player. The large number of games ensures that bots with learning capacities have time to adapt to things learned from previous games. Also, because of the highly complex nature of bots and the infrastructure of the tournament software (starcraft broodwar, BWAPI, which lets the code interact with the game and a couple of VMs), sometimes crashes occur. Thus, the larger the amount of games, the better the results reflect the bots' relative skill.
