Arena was released on May 8th, 2001 as part of Blizzard's Map of the Month.[1] It was the last map released in this way.
It's an UMS map.
Briefing[edit]
PIT MASTER PYRUS
"Welcome to Blackhole Station's arena, your excellence. Our fighting pits hold some of the most deadly warriors in the sector. Zerg Ultralisks, Protoss Archons, Terran Siege Tanks, and others like them are at your beck and call.
Your warriors will do exactly as you say, thanks to the Merkin control chips we have implanted in them. They will follow your orders to their deaths.
You will be competing with up to 3 other puppetmasters like yourself in the arena. Choose the race of warriors you will use in the match, then destroy the enemy's warriors to win the favor of the crowd and score kill points.
Some warriors are worth more points than others, and I'm sure a cagey puppetmaster like yourself will take full advantage of this.
Our matches traditionally last five rounds. Once the first round is completed you will choose the combatants for the next round with some civilians that we provide you.
We have created five different combat groups for you to choose, and they all have different strengths and weaknesses. Pick your warriors wisely.

Mission Objectives[edit]
- Select a race of Gladiators.
- Kill your opponents while keeping your men alive.
- You will get a set amount of civilians after each battle to purchase more units.
