General Information[edit]

The Blizzard World Wide Invitational was organised by Blizzard Entertainment and hosted in late May 2007 in Korea. Several tournaments were hosted for the games Warcraft III and StarCraft Brood War. For Brood War eight players were invited, four of them coming from the international scene, four coming from Korea.

The most important event during the Convention was the release of the first StarCraft II Trailer and the announcement of Brood War's successor. Even with the information being very scarce, the announcement hit like a bomb and resulted in the tournament being widely unrecognized afterwards.[citation needed]

The Chinese Protoss Legend was originally invited to join the WWI, but was eventually replaced by the Taiwanese Zerg SEn due to Visa problems.[1] Even with all foreigners being dominating players during 2007, none could really make a stand against the Koreans, except for SEn, who won a single game against sAviOr.
