The Brood War Reunion Tournament was announced on August 06 2014 and took place on August 23 and 24. The tournament was first sponsored by Silky Goose Studios and Kaoru only, then later become crownfounded with the additions of TL.net and TL community members.

(Converted USD prizes are based on the currency rate on 2014-08-24: 1 EUR ≃ 1.3267 USD.)

An extra 73€ was split between the players of the most entertaining game of the tournament.

  • The overall prize was on August 20 of 730€, the prize distribution was 40% / 25% / 12.5% / 12.5%.

Format[edit]

  • Swiss Tournament: 6 rounds of Swiss tournaments were played. The top 8 players advanced to the single-elimination stage.
  • Single-Elimination Bracket: Top 8 players from the Swiss Tournament advance to a single-elimination bracket. Each match is a Best of Three, except the finals which is a Best of Five.

Casters[edit]

The official casters for the tournament was split into two languagues cast (English and French).

  • The English cast was provided here by Sayle & numerous players.
  • The French cast was provided by GamingLiveand TV02 and casted by KenZy and FremAN.
  • The Polish cast was provided by Terran TV and casted by Raven.
  • The German cast was provided here by RedWarrior and Cele.

Swiss Tournament[edit]

For the Swiss rounds, the Tournament maps was used in order, first map first, then second, third, fourth, and repeat. All game of the Swiss rounds was Best of 1.

There was a 7-way tie for the 8th spot. After a brief attempt at an FFA on The Hunters that was interrupted due to lag, Fosken was randomly drawn as the player advancing to the Ro8.

Elimination Bracket[edit]

The elimination was Best of 3. With the Finals were Best of 5.

  • First map was the next map in the rotation from the last round of the Swiss Tournament and loser picks from the tournament map pool.
  • This rotation continued until the Finals where both players vetoed one map and one of the two not vetoed was decided as the starting and final map at random.

King Of The Hill[edit]

During the Brood War Reunion Tournament, a Oldschool vs NewSchool King of The Hill was held on Sunday August 24.

  • Anyone from the Brood War Reunion Tournament could join the OldSchool team. While the players which have participated in tournaments and had top finishes within the previous year could join the NewSchool team.

At the end, the player with the most wins played against the player sitting on the throne (if they were different). Winner took all of the 60€ prize.

Participants from both groups played a Micro Tournament to decide in which order they played. If a NewSchool player was defeated, he was replaced with the next highest seed of the NewSchool players. Same went for the OldSchoolers.
