Grzegorz "Dreiven" Kordek is a retired Polish Protoss player and former member of mousesports.

Grzegorz "Dreiven" Kordek was born on 14th June 1987 in Poland.

Brood War[edit]

Dreiven started as player in several traditional Brood War clans, such as Team koliX and the infernal Gamers, for whom he played in the highest divisions of the BWCL, the World Gaming Tour Clan League and the ICCup Clan League. However, in the first years of his career the Polish Protoss was overtowered by stronger players of his nation and teams like Draco or Blackman.

He first had his breakthrough in Summer 2007 as runner-up of the Rymarov LanCraft in the Czech Republic. A few days later, he was able to finish first in the Polish WCG Preliminaries. In Cologne he could advance from the group stage as runner-up, losing a single set against the Korean Hwasin. Afterwards he was able to beat Draco in a mirror match before getting knocked out in the Round of 8 by White-Ra. In December 2007 he attended the Dreamhack Winter tournament in Jönköpping, Sweden. He performed strong again and lost only with a close 2-3 against the Swedish star HayprO in the finals.

In early 2008 his run continued: The Protoss scored a B+ rank during the TSL 1 Ladderstage and thusly advanced to the qualifiers, where he defeated the established Terran Ex and Advokate. In the Round of 16 Dreiven faced Mondragon, whom he defeated with a 0-2. Dreiven's run ended in the Round of 8, where he lost to the Russian Terran BRAT_OK with a 0-3. Meanwhile, the Polish was able to qualify for the third ESL Major Series. He advanced rather easy from his group and eventually finished third overall, after losing to Mondragon and White-Ra respectively. Because of his good run Dreiven was not only invited to play in a Team Liquid Attack! in March 2008, but also to the Blizzard WII in Paris in June. However, the Polish lost against sAviOr in the first round, but was able to beat the German Mondragon in the Loser Bracket. He eventually was knocked out by the Korean kal. Still, Dreiven somehow slumped in summer and missed to qualify for the WCG 2008.

In early 2009 Dreiven regained his form and managed to qualify for the fourth ESL Major Series. He advanced from an all-Polish group, defeated Mondragon, but was eventually defeated by ret twice. He lost to the Dutch again in GameoutLoud Invitational, where he ended on the fourth place. After June 2009 the Polish started to fade more and more. He wasn't able to qualify for the second TSL, lost his relegation matches in the ESL Major Series Season 5 and missed to attend the Polish WCG Preliminaries. His last big tournament finish was a gold medal in the PGA Tournament in Poznan.

Dreiven transitioned to StarCraft II, but never really achieved much there. He only occasionally played Brood War after the Beta.

When Dreiven and Mondragon faced each other for the first time in the TSL 1, the Protoss was seen as the clear underdog. In the GosuGamers bets the users voted with 9-1 odds in favour of the German Zerg[1]. However, Dreiven was able to white-wash the Zerg legend with a surprisingly clear 2-0. In the second set he displayed great foresight and map awareness and countered Mondragon's every move. GosuGamers titled this as "upset of the year"[2]

Both met in following tournaments more often. Sometimes the Polish could counter the German rather easily, other times the Zerg could beat the Protoss.
