e-Sports Hall of Fame
From Liquipedia StarCraft Brood War Wiki
The eSports Hall of Fame is a roster of 20 celebrated Brood War players who have been honored for their achievements in both individual and team leagues over the course of competitive Brood War gaming.
Background and Selection Process[edit]
With the conclusion of professional Brood War competitive play, a Hall of Fame initiative was established in order to commemorate the Brood War period.
Players were to be eligible for selection into the Hall of Fame if they placed second or better in any of the major tournaments since 1999 or if they managed to stay in the Proleague top 10 rankings for 3 years.
Fifty-one candidates would be selected in total. A fan voting round would commence, influencing which players made it into the final Hall of Fame roster. The third and final round of selection would be made by media and commentators, who would take into account any player who received at least a 60% approval rating in public polling.[1]
The final roster of 22 players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame were announced on 14 September 2012. The date of their induction ceremony was set for the 22nd of September, the date of the 2011-2012 Proleague Season 2 Grand Finals.[2]
