Friends '98 was released on August 28th, 1998 as Blizzard's Map of the Week.[1]
The map can be played on Use Map Settings for allied play and is intended to be.
The description of Friends '98 is "Remake of a Warcraft II Favorite." and is referencing to the fact that the map is in fact a remake of the Warcraft II map "Friends", where the two allied players would start off next to each other and share a goldmine with vastly increased resources.
