Overview[edit]

Ding "JayStar|霸王枪" Wei is a Protoss player who lives in Hengyang(湖南·衡阳), China. The Protoss is one of the veterans of the Chinese StarCraft Brood War scene and was one of the few players to participate in international events. His first major tournament was WCG 2006, where he failed to qualify for the Knock Out stages even though his group featured relatively bad players.

Until 2008 Ding Wei only participated in comparatively small Chinese tours, failing to qualify for the major events. In June 2008 JayStar was able to make it past the Qualifiers for PGL Season 3, but got eliminated in its early group stages. In December of the same year he joined Fnatic's Brood War squad along with F91 and started to play in different leagues such as the BWCL. Shortly after he finished fourth in the SC4All Stamina tournament, where he defeated ret in the Round of 16.

In late 2009 the Protoss was able to make it through the Chinese qualifiers for 2009 IEF and won against Super, Pj and F91. During the tournament's group stage JayStar was able to defeat Bisu and EffOrt, but lost to Pj and failed to reach the final stages. His good performance of 2009 didn't continue in 2010, when he missed to qualify for WCG 2010 after losing against F91 and LeiChe in the Chinese offline qualifiers.

JayStar was listed as player for the Chinese Team in Gambit's Cup 3.
