Anton "LoWeLy" Plebanovich is a retired Zerg player from Belarus.
Overview[edit]
LoWeLy was a Brood War player of the old generation. He was often described as one of the best East European Zerg players and considered as leading player of his own country[1], which he represented at the World Cyber Games in between 2005 and 2007.
The earliest mentions of LoWeLy as strong players date back to early 2003, when some of his WGTour replays were featured in various fan page data bases[2]. Outside of the Russian speaking community the Zerg was first recognized as good player after defeating Breakdown in the ninth installment of the BW4Ever Season 4[3]. A year later LoWeLy's form spiked, when he won the WCG Belarus 2005 and qualified for the World Cyber Games in Singapore. After defeating the Chinese professional Pj and the seasoned European veteran ZelotITO LoWeLy advanced to the Round of 16. He eventually lost to Lamer.
In the years after his highest tournament finish so far, the Zerg maintained his solid form and was able to compete with the better foreigners. A win in a prestigious tournament went missing, however. LoWeLy won the WCG Belarus in 2006 and 2007 again. In contrast to his previous performances, LoWeLy never advanced out of the group stages of the main events. In 2006's edition he was beaten by Lamer again, as well as by iloveoov.
In late 2007 it seemed as if the Zerg was able to come back to the international top class again, as he showed very strong play in the Pokersharks.ru Tournament Series, where he finished second. He qualified for some more tournaments in the later years, but failed to win any of them.
In December 2010 LoWeLy switched to StarCraft II.[4]. His career as StarCraft II player ended in April 2013[5].
