Lockdown is an offensive spell cast by the Terran Ghost which shorts out the target's circuitry, rendering it immobile for 43.83~ seconds (lasts between 1040-1047 frames[1], the same duration as the Arbiter spell, Stasis Field). During this time the unit can be attacked, repaired and destroyed, but it cannot return fire, move, or respond to any orders. Lockdown can only be cast on mechanical units (unless in Stasis). [2]

Use[edit]

In competitive play Lockdown rarely sees the light of day. Its late-game tech requirements make its single-unit targeting ineffective versus the big late-game armies. Occasionally though, Lockdown is deployed to snipe high-priority targets like Arbiters, Carriers and Battlecruisers.

Versus Zerg, Lockdown is never used as no Zerg units can be affected by this spell.

  • If a Lockdown missile is underway while an SCV or Probe enters a gas station it will simply dispel. You can sabotage gas mining if you Lockdown the worker just before it enters the building: the other workers will refuse to mine from it.
  • If a Lockdown missile is underway while a unit enters a transporter it will also dispel.
