The Round of 32 saw very few surprises, with few significant upsets.

Group A was likely the most hotly contested group, featuring four former Starleague contestants. Snow (career 68% PvT win rate[1]) encountered Mind (career 57% TvP win rate[2]) twice, in the opening match and again in the Bo3 final match, with the Protoss player prevailing in all three games, as Snow made liberal use of Arbiters with his macro game-play.

The old guard were quickly eliminated, by and large, with Midas, Zeus, StarCue, Iris, and Pusan failing to advance. Pusan met his demise in group D at the hands of the new guard, Mong, during their winner's match as the Protoss player attempted an ill-advised proxy Gateway play that was quickly discovered and dealt with.

With Protoss competitors forming the plurality of the participant roster, groups F and H were both composed of three Protoss players. In group H, Tyson demonstrated his PvP prowess by defeating GuemChi and Shuttle in three straight games to advance. In the final match of the group, Tyson defeated Shuttle with a subtle army composition advantage on Circuit Breaker, as Tyson opting for Reavers and Dark Templars to counter Shuttle's Archons.
