A very standard four player map, Luna is known for its uninspired gameplay. The map has the infamous title of being the map that destroyed micro oriented gameplay. In particular the TvP match-up where Terran commonly turtled up to 200/200 before attacking became the standard strategy on this map. Although it may display lackluster gameplay, the map is one of the most used in progaming matches of all time.

However despite its boring layout, due to its sheer length in pro-gaming, it has produced many memorable games that worked around a player's mechanics and creativity instead of the map itself. Luna is also known for being one of the first truly popular maps that used rotational instead of bilateral symmetry.

Notable Features[edit]

  • Non-buildable center- The whole center area cannot be built on.
  • Positional imbalances- The 11 o'clock main has inferior resource placement compared to the other mains. A building is required to correct pathing on the leftmost mineral patches.
