ReXplorer is a Windows shell extension created by chrisbk and Taiche[1]. It adds extra features and functionality to Windows Explorer for working with StarCraft: Brood War replays. ReXplorer does not properly work with Windows 7 or above, and only limited functionality is available on these platforms.[2]
Features[edit]
Custom tooltip for .rep files[edit]
A tooltip containing various information about a game is displayed when the cursor is put over any StarCraft replay file. You can select the displayed information using RXConfig, ReXplorer's configuration tool. Minimap generation for replays and maps[edit]
Generate an image of the map contained in your replay directly from the contextual menu ! This feature comes with a nice set of options, allowing you to choose how to render your image. Also works for SCM and SCX files (StarCraft maps) ; starting locations for replays are displayed only for actual players (using each player's actual color). Works with a simple right-click or with drag-and-drop.
Map extraction from replays[edit]
This long-awaited feature adds an extra contextual menu entry on replays files, allowing you to extract the SCM or SCX file used in the replay. There's also an entry to extract the map DIRECTLY to your StarCraft's "maps" directory. Works with a simple right-click or with drag-and-drop.
See minimap in Thumbnails View[edit]
Very handy to quickly find a game played on a specific map, this feature displays a minimap on the thumbnails in Windows' Thumbnails view.
See minimap in XP's Common Tasks or 2000's Web View[edit]
Since Windows 2000, users are able to browse directories using a feature named Common Tasks (Windows XP) or Web View (Windows 2000). To help the user in its browsing, ReXplorer adds a minimap in this panel for replays (.rep files) and maps (.scm/.scx files).
Extra Properties tab[edit]
When clicking "Properties" on a .rep file, an extra tab named "ReXplorer" is available in the Properties window. It gives a detailed view of the replay : minimap, APM, colors, teams, etc... RWT messages display in Properties In the extra tab described above, there's a button that will display messages saved in the replay using PenguinPlug (if any).
Load replays in StarCraft[edit]
When right-clicking on a .rep file, an extra item appears in the popup menu. This allows you to load replays into StarCraft directly from Windows Explorer without having to launch the game by yourself just like the "Watch replay in BW" feature of BWChart. You can also configure several executables, one per version of SC. You can download old versions of SC executables here. Supports SC in English, French, Spanish and German.
Extra columns[edit]
The user is able to choose different columns to sort his/her replays. Currently, 6 columns are available : Map, Game Type, Match-up, Duration, Game Date and the SC version used, guessed on the game date. 1.0
