Sliding through Building Ramp

From Liquipedia StarCraft Brood War Wiki

The map Medusa introduced a new map feature to the StarCraft universe: a ramp blocked by a building. Ten Protoss Temples blocked the free passage of units but, with 1500 HP each, could be destroyed. Alternatively, using the two mineral patches at the bottom of the ramp, several tricks can be applied to glitch a unit through the building. These techniques are also known as Hopping or Glitching. In practise, occasionaly Vultures or Workers are snuck up the ramp to respectively harass or proxy.

For other sliding techniques see Sliding through Mineral Lines.

Method 1: Using Workers[edit]

There is no guaranteed way to slide a unit through the temples using a worker. However, the following method seems most effective:

  • Get your unit in place and hotkey it. Get it as close in the mineralal corner as possible by ordering the unit to the minerals.
  • Line up your worker so that when you order it to mine it will overlap with your unit.
  • When the worker is mining use your hotkey to select your unit and spam right-click the building to move the unit on top of it. Once the top of the ramp becomes visible spam right-click there to move it across.

Note: if you can, order the worker to stop mining when your unit is halfway to preserve the patches for a second attempt should the first one fail.

Sliding workers[edit]

When using two workers to hop the buildings have both of them mine a patch (the patches are stacked) in a way that sees the workers on top of eachothers. Then, select either of the workers and spam right-click the building, like with a regular unit, to glitch it over.

Method 2: Using Buildings[edit]

Terran[edit]

With a Terran SCV you can fit a building in the corner of the mineral patches. While building, once your SCV overlaps the minerals (see image), hit cancel and spam right-click the building to move the unit on top of it. Once the top of the ramp becomes visible spam right-click there to move it across.

Method 3: Using Landing Terran Buildings or Add-ons[edit]

On Medusa Any Terran Building that can be lifted off can be used for this method. Neo Medusa and later versions of the map have an unbuildable middle and the buildings that can fly/have add-on capability cannot fit next to the minerals anymore. To stack a unit with a building see [1]. Once the unit is stacked spam right-click the building to move the unit on top of it. Once the top of the ramp becomes visible spam right-click there to move it across.

Method 4: Using Burrow[edit]

Hopping over a building on a ramp can be done by using burrow. Burrow a lot of units on top of eachother close to the ramp and tell them to all unburrow at once. Selecting all, you can spam-right click the building and some units might glitch over. However, because of the angles at which the units try to unclutter the chance of succes is very slim.
