Overview[edit]
Spirit toss is a PvT strategy that gets its name from the animation that occurs after a zealot dies (blue smoke and synchronous zealot cry). A player using this strategy ideally focuses on production and continues to send waves after waves of zealots with minimal goon support. As the game progresses, the toss player will want to make sure they continue adding gateways and grab both +1 attack and leg enhancements.
It should be noted that a toss player is particularly vulnerable after losing his or her entire army (unlike zerg, for example). The "wave" function of this strategy is extremely important, thus making a strong economy a must.
Counters[edit]
A well made wall in will easily disable this strategy. It is best used on maps without such ramps such as Vampire or Longinus, although you can still try to elevator the zealots with one shuttle.
Mentality[edit]
This certainly falls under the category of an all-in rush that applies constant pressure to either the Terran's main or natural expand. Always get observer and keep an eye out for a hidden expo. If needed, keep the Terran player on 2 bases. Terrans may adapt reactively but once they becomes hungry and move out it makes for a terrible push!
