Overview[edit]

Ultimatum is a map that was part of a pool of new maps introduced for the 2009 Nate MSL. It was ultimately selected after extensive testing for use in that MSL season.

Notable features[edit]

  • Artificially Blocked Ramps and Chokes - The ramps are actually fairly big, but at the beginning of the game, they are half blocked by a neutral Psi Disruptor and three mineral patches worth 0 minerals each. In addition, the choke from the natural to the middle is blocked by one patch of minerals worth 24 minerals. This allows an easier flow of units between the natural and the main later in the game when those obstacles are removed, but it also allows a choke in the early game.
  • Island Expansions - There are four island expansions situated at 12,3,6,9 that are blocked by mineral patches so Command Centers cannot lift there.
  • Cliff Over the Natural - Similar to Lost Temple, there is a cliff by every natural that allows Terran players to perch a Siege Tank on top and deny mining from the 3 mineral patches closest to the ridge.
