Overview[edit]
The "WGTour Speed Ladder" was hosted in late 2003 by WGTour. The event was both a team- and individual tournament, combined with a ladder phase. The promise of bigger prize pools attracted a great number of notable foreign players, such as FiSheYe, Mondragon and Draco, but also Korean amateurs like JulyZerg, retired KeSPA professionals like OverSky and even the most dominant Koreans like YellOw and allegedly Gundam.
Format[edit]
The WGTour Speed Ladder was not open to the public. Any player could sign up for a ladder within WGTour's ranking system after paying an entrance fee. Each player could furthermore play alone or join a team. Originally, the ladder was planned to only run for two weeks, before the 16 highest ranked players were invited to a "Season Finals Tournament". In these Tournaments team points and money were promised. Initially four seasons should have been played out following this logic.

The signed up players are hard to track. Only few players, mostly foreigners, played under their real accounts, while the Koreans used and shared accounts during all seasons. As a consequence, many of the players can not be confirmed. This article lists only players confirmed by team mates, players themselves or official WGTour admins.
Furthermore, the player listed as "rS.Flash" is most likely not the later OSL and MSL winner Flash.
Public Reception[edit]
During the first two seasons the league was covered on all big fan pages and received a lot of positive feedback, especially since players like YellOw showed up to participate. However, with increasing time the organization was blamed for longer season lengths than originally planned, as well as giving out only small prizes compared to the buy-in.[1] Another Speed Ladder season was not organized, the WSL Season 1 remained the last in WGTour history.[2]
