Overview[edit]
The WCG Grand Finals Germany 2008 took place at Games Convention in Leipzig on 23rd and 24th August 2008. There were five different systems used to determine the final participants, the winner and the runner up qualified for WCG 2009 in China.
Preliminary Qualifiers[edit]
- WWCL-Rating: WWCL Rating was a ELO-based rating of LANs in Germany. The top three of the final ranking qualified.
- GameStar League: The two best ranked players from GameStar League 2008 qualified
- Invite Tournament: A bigger tournament was held. For this eight players were invited directly and another eight could qualify via satellite tournaments.
- Special Invite: Mondragon received a direct invite to WCG Germany Finals due to his third place in WCG 2007.
- Online Qualifiers: Another big online cup (512 player grid) was hosted by WCG Germany. Top eight qualified.
