The 2012 MLG Spring Arena 1 is an eight-player tournament being held from April 20 to the 22nd in New York City. It is the first of two Arena events in the 2012 MLG Spring Season. The top eight finishers from 2012 MLG Winter Championship were invited to compete for a $10,900 prize pool and four all-expense-paid trips to the 2012 MLG Spring Championship to participate in that event's pool play. Just like it was with the first Arena in 2012, the event will be pay-per-view only. Clutch will host. Artosis, djWHEAT, Tasteless, itmeJP, Rob Simpson will provide primary commentary for the event, with Grubby, Axslav, qxc, and Sheth providing additional analysis throughout the broadcast. Adebisi will be the dedicated observer for the games.[1]

Format[edit]

Pool Play[edit]

  • 8 player round-robin group.
    • All matches consist of 3 games.
    • Top 6 players advance to Playoffs.
      • Top 2 players are seeded into the playoffs semifinals.

Playoffs[edit]

  • Single-elimination bracket.
    • All matches are Bo5.
    • Finals is Bo7.

$10,900 is spread among the players.

The top 4 players will qualify and get an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to participate in the 2012 MLG Spring Arena 2. They will also be seeded into pool play and receive an all-expenses paid trip to the 2012 MLG Spring Championship in Anaheim.

The bottom 4 players will drop to the Invite-Only Online Qualifiers.
