Patrick "Bunny" Brix (born December 4, 1992) is a retired Danish Terran player who last played for Team Liquid.

Biography[edit]

On January 2, 2013, he left Vega Squadron as it switched to Heart of the Swarm.[1]

On February 22, 2013 he joined Copenhagen Wolves after winning DanishStarcraft.com 2013 Winter.[2][3] and then joined Team Liquid a year later after upsetting NaNiwa to advance to the last 16 in the WCS Europe Premier League.[4]

Wings of Liberty[edit]

Bunny participated in Copenhagen Games Spring 2011, where he was knocked out in the first group stage.

His first big breakthrough was in World Championship Series 2012 Denmark on July 28, 2012, where he defeated players such as Ciara and Cupcake to take third after BabyKnight and Blackcidy.

On May 18, he took 1st in TheBlast beating many notable Danish players like Pink, FaiLo, ViumMaster and DenLilleMand.

IeSF 2012 World Championship[edit]

On 18 August, he won a televised qualifier to IeSF live on Danish television. He beat Blackcidy in the finals and got the opportunity to go to Korea to compete.

In Korea he beat Poyo in his group, but lost to Verdi. This, however, was enough to get out of the group stage. After the groupstage he was knocked out by monchi, who won the entire event.

NetPartyFyn[edit]

After returning from Korea and IeSF, Bunny competed at the LAN NetPartyfyn. Bunny went on to win the whole thing beating players like Sonder, Pink and ViumMaster.

Heart of the Swarm[edit]

Bunny's breakout tournament in Heart of the Swarm was his qualification for WCS Europe Season 1; on the second day of the Premier League qualifiers, he beat players such as Miniraser, White-Ra, LiveZerg, FireCake, Welmu, and duckdeok to secure a top two qualification spot.

He was placed in Group A with SaSe, ForGG, and sLivko. On April 28, 2013 he played the opening match against ForGG, which he lost 2-0. Although he was able to beat sLivko 2-1 in the losers match, a repeat loss to ForGG would knock him down to the Challengers League.

In Challengers League he would make it as far as the Round of 16, with 2-0 wins over Jogginhose and Kas. However a loss to MMA would send him to the Group Stage. There he would qualify for the Season 2 Premier League. Taking first place in Group F with 2-1 wins over Harstem and duckdeok.

On June 7, 2013 he participated in the HomeStory Cup 7 EU Qualifiers. He would take first place in that tournament, winning an invite and a paid trip the Main Tournament. His run included wins over Adelscott, StarDust, Thorminator, Bly, and PandaTank.

At HomeStory Cup 7 He was placed into Group C for the first Group Stage, along with viOLet, BabyKnight, and Ret. Wins over Ret and viOLet put him at the top of his group and he would advance to the second Group Stage. There he was placed in Group A along with TLO, MC and NightEnd, and despite a 2-1 win over NightEnd he came in 3rd place and was knocked out of the tournament.

In WCS EU Season 2 Premier League he was placed in Group G along with ForGG, VortiX, and Grubby.

In the 2014 WCS Europe Season 1 Premier League, after being drawn with MC, NaNiwa and sLivko in the Round of 32's Group B, he emerged as the group's surprise package after beating sLivko and upsetting NaNiwa to advance to the Round of 16. He joined Team Liquid later that same week.

Eventual Rise to Championship[edit]

Having dropped out of the Round of 32 of the previous WCS season, Bunny had to re-qualify for WCS Season 3 through Challenger, where he was to meet Sacsri who had only recently won Dreamhack Valencia. Being the massive underdog going into the series, Bunny at first went down 0-2, but managed to eventually bring the series back to a 3-2 score at the end, taking out Sacsri and moving on to Premier League. There he was seeded in Group B, where he faced MorroW, ToD and San. He won his first match against ToD, before barely losing to San. He closed it out with a win over MorroW, thus moving on to the Round of 16.

He made another mark at Gfinity G3, beating (in order) DeMusliM, StarDust and teammates TLO and Snute to advance to the finals against HyuN - whom he upset in 6 games. It marked the first win by a foreign player in an event with WCS points at stake since the WCS system debuted in 2013 and the first win by a foreign Terran in a tournament with Korean entrants since ThorZaIN defeated Polt to win DreamHack Stockholm in 2012.

A few weeks after, Bunny attended Red Bull Battlegrounds Detroit. He was put into a group with two local players, whom he beat easily. In the brackets, he first met PLSLEAVEDUCK, an American Protoss whom he easily beat 2-0. After that, he met HyuN once again, but was not able to beat him this time, losing 2-1 and dropping out of the tournament in the Round of 32. Only a week later, he attended another international tournament in the stacked IEM Toronto. Having to fight through the Open Bracket, he qualified by beating Kane, Oz and HuK and was placed into a very tough group with teammate TaeJa, Polt and Zest, who was at the time hailed to be the best player in the world.[by whom?] While being able to beat Polt 2-0 in the first game, going up against both TaeJa and Zest proved to be too hard for the Terran after all, and he dropped 0-2 to both of them, eliminating him from the tournament. Bunny was originally supposed to attend another tournament only a week later in the form of the 2014 WEC in China's Hangzhou, however he ended up not attending as he was sick and was instead replaced by TOP.

The next premier tournament matches Bunny played were his WCS Round of 16 matches. He was placed into an all-foreigner group with Harstem, Miniraser and Happy. He took first place in his group, by winning 2-1 against both Harstem and Miniraiser, moving through to the quarterfinals. Before those were played out however, Bunny attended DreamHack Stockholm. Being seeded into the second Group stage, he immediately was placed into the same group as teammate Snute who at the time was proclaimed to be the best foreigner in the entire world,[Citation needed] and beat him 2-0, advancing from his group without dropping a single map. While he did not manage to take out his second group without dropping a single map, he ended up beating Lilbow and Patience to move through to the playoffs, where he met the eventual tournament winner Solar. He lost 1-2 dropping out of the tournament in the Round of 16. Back in Cologne, Germany, Bunny would shortly after be playing out his WCS Round of 8 match, once again meeting San, whom he had already barely lost to in the Group Stage. While this match was even closer than the first one, Bunny did not quite manage to beat the Korean Protoss and his run was ended. It did however make for the best run in WCS Bunny had had so far.

Also in Germany, Homestory Cup X was the next tournament Bunny attended. He beat Miniraser 2-1 in his first match of the first group stage, moving to the winners match, where he met MC, who beat him mercilessly 0-2. Bunny had to him face Miniraser once again, and he beat him, this time 2 to nothing, and moved on to the second group Stage. There, he played in an otherwise Korean only group with HyuN, Sacsri and the eventual winner of the tournament PartinG. He faced both HyuN and Sacsri, dropping 0-2 to both of them dropping him out of the tournament. From there on, Bunny took about 2 months off from Premier Tournaments to spend his time practicing.

2015[edit]

Bunny played in the European WCS Qualifiers, making it to the final round of the first qualifier, where he faced Lilbow, but lost 0-2. However he did qualify in the second qualifier, beating MarineLorD in the finals of his bracket. Moving through to his WCS Challenger match, he was to face PtitDrogo who he was massively favored against, with this being the first big tournament for the French Protoss. The Dane beat him 3-0, going through to Premier League. There, he was to play against MajOr, MaNa and viOLet. He won against MajOr 2-1 in a very close series, before moving on to the winners match, where he met teammate MaNa, whom he lost to 0-2. He met viOLet in the decider match, beating him 2-0.

Before playing out the Round of 16 of WCS in Poitiers, he participated in the Fragbite Masters Season 4, to which he was invited as the third place of the previous season. The Danish Terran cut through his Round of 16 groups with a 4-0, beating both Soulkey and HyuN 2-0. He was thus seeded into the Winners bracket of the Round of 12, where his first opponent was the German Protoss ShoWTimE. He beat him 3-0 and moved through. His next match was against .Happy, who he beat in a 3-0 clean sweep as well, moving through to the Finals. There he played Soulkey once again, who had come from the Losers Bracket and was thus down one map against him. The series was much closer than the first one and Soulkey able to take it to a game 6, but Bunny eventually edged out a victory moving on to his first finals ever since beating HyuN in Gfinity half a year earlier. The day after, the final was played against Happy and Bunny was able to easily clean sweep, taking it 4-0, making it his second ever major tournament title with a map score of 18-3 by the end of the tournament, only dropping maps in the semifinals against Soulkey.

Bunny then played his Gfinity Spring Masters I against Rain, Hydra and FanTaSy and lost to Hydra 1-2 and to Fantasy 0-2, bombing out of the tournament in last place.

The day after, he went to Poitiers, where he played the WCS Season 1. On day 1, he played his first Round of 16 match against Welmu and beat him 2-1. The day after, he played against Kane, but lost the match and dropped to the deciders match where he played and beat Has. The last match also featured Kaelaris laughing out loud on stream for several minutes about the ridiculousness of Has's builds.[5] In the upcoming Round of 8, Bunny played another team-kill, as he went up against his teammate Snute, but beat him 3-1 and moving on to the Round of 4, his best result in a Premier tournament at the time. There, he met one of the tournament favorites Polt and had an incredibly close series with him, barely losing in game 5. Polt eventually won this tournament. Having stated in an interview before the game that his dream was to reach the grand finals of a WCS, Bunny later posted on Twitter that despite being incredibly sad about his loss, he would definitely go for the finals in Season 2.

Having been invited to the second Gfinity Spring Masters event as well, he was put in a group with only Koreans in Patience, MC and Heart. However, he did move through with a clean 2-0 against MC and another convincing 2-1 win against Patience, and moved through to the Round of 8. There, he faced TRUE, but ended up getting crushed 0-3, and eliminated from the tournament. Bunny was originally supposed to play in the first 2015 Kung Fu Cup. However, it was not possible, as it collided with Gfinity, and his spot was given to PtitDrogo.

The next tournament he played was instead WCS Season 2 Challenger, against Beastyqt, whom he was able to pick beforehand. Bunny beat him 3-0, and once again moved through to Premier League. There, he played in a group with Jim, Petraeus and Kane. He first beat Petraeus 2-1 in a very close series, with game 2 even going on for almost an hour, despite a recent nerf to Swarm Hosts. He then moved on to beat Jim 2-0 in the winners match and moved on to the Round of 16, played in Toronto.

Team Leagues[edit]

Bunny represented Team Liquid for the first time during Acer TeamStory Cup Season 3. Despite a rather weak showing at the beginning, he ended up being stronger and stronger over time, with an overall record of 12-8 at the end of the season, most notable with a 4-kill against Millenium as well as his only all-kill so far against coL-Dignitas. The only other occasion that he has represented Team Liquid in other than that, is the currently on going SC2Improve Team League S4, where he is currently boasting an impressive record of 7-2, with a 3-kill over ECVisualize.
