The ESL Pro Series, commonly abbreviated as the EPS, is a StarCraft II league held and organized by Electronic Sports League. Every Tuesday the 16 participants have to play in a BO3 against each other. The finals are held in a double-elimination mode. Although it is a German league, foreign players are allowed to play in the league when they move to Germany. The ESL Pro Series itself is popular in Germany holding off Events like Intel Friday Night Games and featuring Counter-Strike.
Since Season 18 the system of the EPS has been changed. The new group stage system (also known as 'Champions League' system) includes 16 players, 4 players per group. Everyone plays two times against the opponents of their group. The top two players from every group joins the Playoffs and have the chance to join the EPS Finals. The other two players have to fight in the Playdowns for their place in the EPS.
