Kim "EffOrt" Jung-woo (born January 30, 1991) is a retired Korean Zerg player who last played for CJ Entus.
Biography[edit]
EffOrt's career as a Brood War progamer started relatively late, as he played his first televised match in 2008. He was dubbed the "neo-sAviOr" at that time due to his playstyle’s strong resemblance to sAviOr's. EffOrt went up the ladder in his team, and became the most frequently used Ace player by CJ Entus. He realised his first major achievements in individual leagues in the summer 2009, as he took the third place of the 2009 GOM Classic Season 3, won the BlizzCon 2009, and reached the quarterfinals of the 2009 Avalon MSL. His coronation in OSL occurred in 2010, when he defeated the heavily favorite Flash in the grand finals of the 2010 Korean Air OSL, in a tied series that he won 3-2 after a 0-2 deficit. He announced his retirement in September 2010, only to come back in March 2011.
Wings of Liberty[edit]
EffOrt played his first televised StarCraft II match during the hybrid 2011-2012 Proleague Season 2.
World Championship Series[edit]
EffOrt would be one of the KeSPA players to qualify to play in the WCS Korea Nationals. He would fall to HerO in the first round of the winner's bracket with a score of 0-2 to drop into the loser's bracket. In the first round of the loser's bracket, EffOrt would be matched up against the GSL Champion DongRaeGu, whom he would manage to beat 2-1 in an action packed ZvZ. EffOrt would then follow that up by defeating GuMiho in the following round 2-0 before failing to fell KeSPA player herO in the third round of the loser's bracket.
Global StarCraft II League[edit]
With his success in the hybrid Proleague, EffOrt would be one of the four KeSPA Code A seeds for the 2012 GSL Season 4[1]
MLG vs Proleague[edit]
EffOrt managed to get into the playoffs to play against Flash, but eventually lost to him 4:3 and was eliminated from the tournament.
Trivia[edit]
