Zifeng "hellokitty" Wang is an American Grandmaster Protoss player who is now retired. He transitioned from Brood War to StarCraft II in April 2011 and his retirement was announced on May 27, 2014.[1]


Zifeng is a student at University of Texas Austin, representing its CSL team in 2010 and 2012 and currently considered the ace of the team. He is known for being a "Jay Chou" look-alike.

Wings of Liberty[edit]

hellokitty entered the competitive Starcraft II scene much later than many. His first major appearance was at the Texas StarCraft Showdown, placing 9th after falling to iNkA and TriMaster's brother, SniXSniPe. He competed in the CSL team for the University of Texas Austin at the same time as the Lone Star Clash tournament. He took 2nd place after being defeated by binski in the Ace match.

In the Houston Starcraft League, hellokitty advanced to the round of 8 where he faced tQgetslammed and won 2-0. He was eliminated in the semifinals by viOLet. He finish in 3rd place after taking out Hawk 2-1.

hellokitty qualified for the Blizzard WCS USA Nationals through the Beyond Gaming qualifier, defeating HasHe, YaTa and Fitzyhere to advance to the championship round. He defeated Sasquatch 4-2, claiming his spot in the national event.

Despite beating Gatored and ruFF he was knocked to the Loser's Bracket by Insur. In the lower bracket he took out Pokebunny 2-0, Goswser 2-1, Hawk 2-0 before being knocked out by the runner up daisuki. hellokitty finished in 5th place.

Heart of the Swarm[edit]

hellokitty was given a direct invite to the 2013 WCS Season 1 America Premier League. In the Round of 32 group stage, he lost to Ryung but was unexpectedly able to defeat Ryung's teammate, Heart, before again losing to Ryung in the final match. In Challenger League, he lost to XY, but was able to secure a spot in Challenger League for Season 2 by defeating Maker in the Group Stage.
