Insomnia XVII StarCraft II tournament is a two day non-BYOC tournament in Pori, Finland on October 23-24, 2015 with a prize pool of €1000 EUR. The tournament will have room for 16 players from which half are invited and the other half will earn their spots through online qualifiers. The tournament will be streamed in Finnish by Esa "Snapple" Kaisjoki and Juha "Divinesia" Nurmenniemi.
Tournament Information[edit]
Format[edit]
The tournament is played with a WCS style double elimination group stage and a single elimination playoffs stage.
There are three groups with 4 players each and the top two players in each group will advance to the playoffs.
Group Stage[edit]
The group stage is played in double elimination format (similar to WCS) with best of 3 matches.
- The 4 players of each group are split into two pairs and play each other in best of 3 matches.
- The winners of these matches will then face each other in the Winner’s match.
- The victor places first in the group and advances to the next round.
- The losers of the initial matches face each other in the Loser’s match.
- The loser places fourth in the group, will drop out of the tournament.
- The loser of the Winner’s match and the winner of the Loser’s match will face each other in a fifth match.
- The winner gets second place in the group and advances to the next round.
- The loser places third in the group and will drop out of the tournament.
Playoffs[edit]
The eight remaining players will be put in a single-elimination bracket. All matches are best of 5 except the final which will be a best of 7 match.
