The Intel Extreme Masters is ESL's flagship competition sponsored by Intel. IEM is a huge tournament spanning many months and individual competitions culminating in the Global Championships. The eleventh season of IEM was announced on May 11, 2016. Source While each year the games played changes, for this season, StarCraft II will be played alongside League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Events[edit]
Season XI features a number of Global Challenges and a World Championship. Four IEM events have been announced for Season XI, three of them including a StarCraft II tournament.
Season XI:
- IEM Shanghai (2016-07-28 – 2016-07-31)
- IEM Oakland (2016-11-19 – 2016-11-20) - This event will not host a StarCraft II tournament [1]
- IEM Gyeonggi (2016-12-16 – 2016-12-18)
Finals / World Championship:
- World Championship at Katowice (2017-03-03 – 2017-03-05)
